A Summer Wedding at Rubywood, a Paragon Lodging property.

Some brides choose private home rentals instead of the bigger venues, requiring less transportation and logistic issues, as the ceremony, reception, and lodging is taken care of. Ask us how we can even help you group homes and / or nearby properties, to minimize travel between the ceremony and guest lodging.

This wedding had no bridal bouquet, as both arms and hands were occupied by the arms of a father and mother, leaving no need for a bridal bouquet. We loved it.

You can see the Breckenridge Ski Resort from the west-facing deck. This is where the ceremony takes place, using two different levels. The wedding party usually stands on the lower deck, or on the edge of the higher deck, depending on party size.

To tent or not to tent? Well, that depends on how comfortable your guests need to be. If you have a hardy crew and can wait out thunderstorms to exchange vows, then you can skip the tent. However, if you want to consider a tent, you can add clear flaps to not block light, and can even add a heater to keep guests warm.

Did we mention it can snow every month of the year in the high country? It usually doesn't, but you never know about the mountains and the weather it can bring. Ask us about tent rentals for the Breckenridge area and we can recommend the vendors, or can take care of it altogether, if need be.

Annie contacted us and we agreed upon a brilliant set of manzanita chandeliers with hanging crystals, LED votive candles and fresh flowers added. We thought these turned out beautiful!

Yellow Flowers for a Fall Wedding at One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge, Colorado

Happy New Year everyone! We're starting off the year in a run, as we are busy getting the shop ready for business, creating the event planning studio we've always dreamed of, rebuilding our website, and are still busy posting blogs from last summer's weddings!

It looks like I posted a sneek peek of this wedding back in September, and here's a link to another real mountain wedding at One Ski Hill Place and the T-Bar.

Tall pilsner vases were rental items that held beautiful yellow oncidium orchids. Curly willow was also added.

The T-Bar begins to take shape in the hours before the ceremony is set to start. Make sure your team arrives plenty early, knows who the key contacts are, and when items are to be cleared from the room.

Lots of sweets await the guests for an after-dinner treat. Not sure who to call to get the cake or sweets you have in mind? These bouquets wait inside, out of the sun, in the minutes before the ceremony. Make sure you have your vases filled with water and put them back in the vase whenever you're not using them for photos or the ceremony.

The view outside the main window of One Ski Hill Place includes the slopes of peak 8, and the kids castle, where ski school meets and trains the young souls that meet the mountain.

Our Big Move for 2012: Relocating to 201-A N. Main Street in Breckenridge, Colorado

Hello to all our friends in Summit County, Colorado and beyond... We are excited to announce that we are relocating to 201-A N. Main Street, just a few blocks south of where we are now!

There are many historic structures located in the historic district in downtown Breckenridge, and we've found one that we just fell in love with! The Damon Ranch's barn will be the new basecamp for Creative Flowers Inc | Petal and Bean.

To find our new location from Main Street, just find the red, green and yellow building that houses For Pet's Sake Thrift Store, Book Breck and Carver's at 203 North Main Street.

The bike path and blue river are just steps away out the back door and numerous art festivals and gatherings happen nearby. This new location is a mere 100 yards from the gondola and transfer station.

We are looking forward to being in this new creative space and will continue to offer local offerings of fresh flower delivery, custom gift baskets and boxes, and new succulent gardens that are easy to maintain and are good for the home or office.

New floral design workshops are being offered in conjunction with the local campus of the Colorado Mountain College, with all classes being held on site at Petal and Bean.

Expanded services include a full-service wedding and event planning studio that helps you every step of the way, or points you to the right DIY resources to get the job done.

Mayflower Gulch: Wildflower Filled Mountain Valley near Copper Mountain, Colorado

One of Dina's favorite places to go take a hike during the summer is Mayflower Gulch. You need at least a few hours to make the drive, hike in, and gain the ridge. You also have to have a clear weather window, as you're quickly in the alpine, meaning not much cover for inclement weather.

When you're in Breckenridge, you see the Ten Mile Range stretch out before you. Most folks have never seen the backside. You've probably heard of the Sky Chutes, as the letters, "S, K, and Y" can be seen in the mountain range from Copper Mountain.

Once you park, you hike for about 40 minutes before finding the cabin in the mouth of the basin, with a road leading up to the right that gains the ridge. Another road goes further back into the basin, but eventually fades out when it reaches the old mines that the road was built for.

Even in during the summertime, the higher elevations can hold snow. The air loses 3 - 5 degrees per 1000 feet of elevation gain. this patch of snow was still too slippery to continue following the snow, so we backtracked to find a suitable place to gain the ridge.

We've changed the way we plan weddings. From using a notepad and a pencil to take notes at the first consultation, and using a real scrapbook of photo to show our portfolio, we've come a long way.

You can view our portfolio online (but check back soon, as we're rebuilding our site again), check us out on Facebook, send us a tweet, and now you can even connect on Google Plus. But, one of our favorite new social platforms include using inspiration boards that are available on Pinterest.

Real Colorado Wedding in Summit County at Lake Dillon, Colorado

Today's blog is a combination of three lenses capturing the day that Ashley and Marc were married on the shores of the Dillon Reservoir, also known as Lake Dillon near the Dillon Marina in Dillon, Colorado.

We received an email with these first three images, one from the professional photographer, and the othe from a family member. We love getting those emails!

The rest of the images are by me, and my iphone. I like not having to take a big camera anymore, and it serves this purpose. But, I always love the photographs captured throughout the ceremony by the professional.

This family chose to gather with the marina just to the east and a nice lawn on the property with plenty of space to have the outdoor ceremony.

The Dillon Dam road hugs the north side of the lake while the Ten Mile Ranges stretches towards the south to Breckenridge.

There is a nice bike path that is on the south side of the Dillon Dam Road and can easily be ridden to and from Frisco. Or, mix it up and take a water taxi back to the other side after enjoying a beverage at either the Tiki Bar in Dillon or the Frisco Marina.

Buffalo mountain is the southern most peak of the Gore Range.

This mid September wedding had an interesting combination of purple Mini Calla Lilies, Roses, Gerbera Daisies, Cockscomb Celosia, Cottage Yarrow and Curly Willow twigs.

A member of the bridal party uses his camera to take some detail photos before getting ready for the ceremony.

The Dress

This private home rental was used for the reception and evening festivities. An all-white floral centerpiece matched the tulle hung from the stair railing.

This was a sweeeet house, and was off-the-beaten path, and was located in a quiet, wooded neighborhood in the shadow of a fourteen thousand foot peak, Mt. Quandary.

Sandy adds the final touches to the tulle, while took photos of the bouquet, centerpiece, boutonierre and house.

Luxury home rentals in the Breckenridge area usually have a large kitchen, and sometimes have a home theatre room!

The upstairs master bedroom included a private bath, workout machines, and a yoga area right in front of a fire place.

Options for outdoor activities include a hot tub and fire pit. Please contact us to start planning your mountain wedding, as we not only decorate the normal venues, but have been helping more and more brides use private home rentals for smaller, intimate events.

{ REAL MOUNTAIN WEDDING } Kelly + Josh at Timber Ridge in Keystone, Colorado

Kelly leans against the railing at the Timber Ridge wedding venue at Keystone Resort's North Peak, which sits at 11,444 feet. Guests traveled via gondola to this mountain top wedding ceremony. Clouds hung in the air, but did not rain on the facility that evening.

These namecards were attached to a pinecone with a purple ribbon that matched the bridesmaid dresses and flowers in the bouquets and centerpieces.

I take these photos as we arrive hours before the wedding, so that the bride can take photos prior to the ceremony using the venue and adjacent ski slopes. We also have folks pick up their bouquets earlier than when we arrive, or we can even deliver to another location if requested.

I heard stories the next day about this DJ being a lot of fun and really helping make the night. Talk to us about who we think could be a great match for your wedding entertainment needs.

Red Roses, Dahlias, purple Stock, Lisianthus, Dusty Miller make up the ingredients in this beautiful bouquet.

Give your guests something to do, by creating a card station, which later will be put into a wedding scrapbook.

When you enter Timber Ridge, you see the tall ceiling, the large fireplace and large log poles that create an amazing setting for a Keystone wedding. We attached drapes using a tall ladder and hung fabric tied with matching purple ribbon.

Red Gladioli

Eco-friendly and green, this couple chose to give guests to their Rocky Mountain destination wedding, a sapling to "grow memories" of their union using a living tree. What a great idea for wedding favors!

I stood on a chair in socks and carefully hung each hanging votive with delicate care, and turned on the LED lights that slightly flicker and look real. This is a nice, safe option and alternative to open flames. I've returned the next day to retrieve rentals and many, if not all the votives are still flickering away.

When you have your wedding at a Keystone Resort venue, you'll have the opportunity to work with a great pastry chef and longtime local, Ned. He usually comes by the shop a day or two before the event to grab flowers that will be used on the wedding cake.

This amount of flower needs to be worked into the overall order, and isn't always a huge add on, but a few extra bunches could be necessary to give the cake its desired look.

A bridesmaid bouquet usually sits at the head table throughout the evening to repurpose the bouquets and then contributes to the floral theme and decor.

[VENUE] Piney River Ranch in Vail, Colorado

This bouquet was created for a bride using pink Zinnia, orange Roses, white Dahlia, Snapdragons, Poppy pods, Cat mint and Honeysuckle vines.

The quiet valley echoes the laughs and screams of kids playing, paddling and hiking along the shores of one of the most beautiful alpine lakes that I've ever seen. An abundance of wildflowers scattered on the hillsides matched perfectly with the loose wildflower look that we created using a mix of flowers from our suppliers and a few from our own garden.

Teepees, firepits, cabins for rent? Yep. There are a few options for lodging, and there are local transportation companies that can be arranged to transport guests from the wedding to the downtown Vail lodging options, if they so choose to stay elsewhere.

One thing's for sure, and that's that you'll get amazing photos while you're here. There's even a few historic items scattered around the property to take advantage of.

White Flowers for a Wedding at the Black Mountain Lodge at the Arapahoe Basin Ski and Snowboard Area

Dahlias, Hydrangea, Spray Roses and Seeded Eucalyptus were used in the bridal bouquet for this one-of-a-kind Rocky Mountain celebration. First of all, it was at the Black Mountain Lodge, which is located mid-mountain at 11,550 feet at the Arapahoe Basin Ski and Snowboard Area, which is simply called, "A Basin" or just the "basin."

These photos are from just the drop off. The family was going to set everything up, and Joe Kusumoto was the professional photographer was assigned to capture the day through his lens. Now, Joe's an accomplished photographer, and has been exploring the world of iphoneography, just like I have.

Winter weddings at the basin cannot exclusively rent out the Black Mountain Lodge at this time, but could always reserve a nice section at the beach. The "beach" as it's known is the front row parking area that gets filled up with some serious tailgate action.

Now, here's a photo of all the flowers in their transportation containers, grouped closely together. I like taking these images lately, as it shows a nice concentration of the colors and types of flowers in close proximity.

I was surprised to see this boulder choked creek was under our feet as we skied this line. It's pretty amazing how much gets covered up by the snow. This drive is short, but pretty rocky in a few spots, and not as forgiving as the road up to Ten Mile Station on Peak 9 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Opposites Attract. Snowboarder + Skier = Love // Unique Cake Topper for a Wedding at One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge, Colorado

This recent Breckenridge wedding cake was adorned with a miniature snowboarder and a skier staring at each other. We'll be showing the real weddings from this summer, and from other vendors on our new wedding blog, Summit Mountain Weddings.

SKIER + SNOWBOARDER = LOVE

These cylinder vases were actually filled with water and topped with a floating candle. A simple and clean look that doesn't block anyone's view, and provides the intimate candlelight to set the mood.

Simple, painted rock shows the guest where their seat is, and is a keepsake from the day!

This outside ceremony was held near the base of the Breckenridge Ski Resort, where the Peak 8 Fun Park operates. Plan accordingly, and know that the gondola can transport guests to the ceremony, but might need to make alternate arrangements for the trip back down, as the gondola stops running just after dark.

First Winter Storm in Breckenridge and a Snowy Garden

The flowers are standing now, but the weight of the snow, the cold and the wind will most certainly help our garden go to sleep for the winter.

We prepped yesterday, knowing this system was coming, and hope to do a bit more when this melts off next week.

I wandered out in the cold for a few moments to take these photos, and to say thanks to our flowers, as they helped us create wonderful arrangements this summer.

At least they will live on in all the photos on this blog, and in a few wedding collections. Looks like the wildflower bouquets will have to wait until next summer...

For a few weeks this summer, I was carrying around both my camera and my new iPhone. I decided to go with the Apple product very quickly, as it's very easy to use, and has great camera options. So, I guess it is only fitting that I preface this blog as a tribute to tech legend, Steve Jobs, who has found a way to create a product that a small town mountain florist uses to reach a worldwide audience.

The photos over the next few posts will be a mix of images from the phone (above, and from my not-so-pro regular camera, which produced the images below. Except for the last one.

This Rocky Mountain wedding had a bride carrying Snapdragons, Delphinium, Gerbera Daisies, Zinnia and Cosmos. It reminds me of the wildflowers that cover the slopes of peak 9 of the Breckenridge ski resort. A short drive up a dirt road (you can make it in a Honda, just go slow) brings you to Ten Mile Station.

A great way to share the good times are to carefully select a grandma-friendly trip down memory lane. Just do a quick doublecheck is all I'm sayin'.

The bridesmaid bouquet didn't have any reds in it. Both were wrapped in white ribbon. Some of these flowers came from our private cutting garden. We have painstakingly created a high alpine garden that has a short life, and a few of our lucky brides get to have these hand-planted, hand-watered, floral beauties that we brought up ourselves.

It would actually be a shame if we didn't share some of them, but this summer, our garden was looking really nice, and it was perfect timing for a few of our weddings.

Ten Mile Station has these huge hanging flower baskets around the property, and there's an amazing patch of Columbine that grow out front too. So, really, it makes sense that we use some wildflowers that we've grown to put in the bouquets that we handcraft with love, right?

Yellow Wedding Flowers, Balloons and Aspen Trees in Breckenridge, Colorado

The hillsides are a brilliant contrast of yellow and green right now with the Aspen trees changing colors, so it's no wonder why this Breckenridge bride chose her fall wedding palette to be an all-yellow statement. She held a bouquet made with love and filled with Oncidium, Mokara and Cymbidium Orchids, Roses, and Snapdragons.

The ceremony was held on an outside deck at One Ski Hill Place, at the base of Peak 8 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. The Fun Park has closed, the kids are back in school, and beautiful fall weather makes this an attractive slopeside wedding venue in Summit County.

The table centerpieces were a tall pilsner vase filled with Oncidium Orchids, and the bridesmaids carried bouquets slightly different, using Crespedia and Calla Lilies, as well as some of the other flowers mentioned above. Roses, Rananculus, Zinnia and Lamb's ear were in the ingredients list for this bride's dream bouquet. The groom was raised in Breckenridge, and the couple married in St. Mary's Cathollic Church. The reception was held at the Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center.

The bridesmaid bouquets were made of Roses, Fuji Mums, Calla Lilies, Lamb's ear and Alsotrmeria. The bright, fun colors were a nice burst of color as the girls walked the slopes of Peak 9 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Blue, Ivory and a Touch of Cream in these Flowers for a Wedding at Sevens in the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 at Breckenridge, Colorado

This mountain bride's bouquet was made of cream Lisianthus, ivory Roses, and blue Hydrangea. I was able to take this photo while the photographer had the girls posing on the outside deck at Sevens Restaurant, located in the Grand Lodge on Peak 7.

You can have guests take the gondola to your slopeside wedding ceremony at Sevens. Just make sure you check the transportation issues for late night, because the gondola stops running earlier than your wedding will end.

The bridesmaids wore blue dresses and stood by their girlfriend's side as she stands in front of Mt. Baldy, the dominant peak looking east. Directly behind the ceremony is the base of Peak 7.

"Dude's turning into a Groomzilla!" One of the guys helping set up the reception room was reacting to Josh and his checklist. I mentioned in my last post how the grooms are becoming more involved in the process, and this young man was making sure everything was good to go.

You can't really blame him for doublechecking everything. You can plan all you want, but take a look at those clouds. You never know what's going to blow over that ridgeline.

So, the other day on Facebook, I asked this question and put up a picture of a recent cake from a wedding at Timber Ridge at Keystone Resort. A photographer, Zach Wear of Revert Imaging replied right away on Twitter suggesting cake pops!

This bridal bouquet was wrapped in a white ribbon handle while being made of Roses, Dahlia, Peacock feathers, Berzillia berries and Fuji mums.

The outside ceremony deck at Ten Mile Station is high above the town of Breckenridge, and with a magnificent view of Mt. Baldy and the rest of the Continental Divide as the natural backdrop for your Rocky Mountain wedding.

The bar area where guests wait at Ten Mile Station can be decorated to match the table centerpieces in the adjacent room. Windows look out onto the ski slopes of Peak 9's beginner runs.

Dessert tables seem to be very popular right now, and with very good reason, as they seem to offer a diversity of offerings that can suit almost any sweet tooth. If cake isn't your thing, try the cookies, or whoopie pies!

We're already into September, and I'm knee deep in wedding photos from the summer. I might have to put out a call for a blogging intern to help me out! But, I wanted to share some of these photos from when we set up at weddings. The bride was posing for pics for the photographer before the ceremony, so I got in close and took the photo above.

As far as Breckenridge wedding venues go, Sevens at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is unique as it sits on the lower slopes of the Breckenridge Ski Resort's newest chairs that service the semi-new terrain on Peak 7. The deck outside Sevens looks towards the ski area, but the ceremonies are usually directed towards the east and with the Continental Divide as your natural backdrop to your Rocky Mountain wedding.

If you're looking for the cutest couple I mentioned in the title, this is them! These sharp-looking youngsters were posing for photos and were ready to carry out their ceremonial duties as ring bearer and flower girl.

DIY Wedding Flowers? Maybe. But, Don't Believe Everything You Read, Including This Blog.

I love to read. I read newspapers, magazines and browse multiple websites, blogs and social feeds each day. You could say I'm a bit of a media junkie. And believe me when I say that I've noticed a lot of junk in the media these days. What am I referring to? Well, there's a lot of misinformation when it comes to wedding planning information and resources out there, in my opinion, anyway.

One of the most common ways these so-called wedding experts telling you to save money by cutting out a professional florist and recommend the bride to do her own flowers. Well, you could also use the same line of reasoning and suggest for her to bake her own cake and cook her own food as well. We know from years of experience that talking with the brides we work with that they can always go back and remember their wedding flowers through the images captured that day.

The flowers that you will look at in your wedding pictures for the rest of your life should not be something that you and your friends just threw together because some "expert" somewhere told you it wasn't hard and you will save money. With the money you save, you'll be spending time (and in a small business person's viewpoint, time IS money) dealing with flowers and plants that you might not have any idea how to properly care for.

You don't want to have to call a florist last-minute to see if they have the same type and color of replacement flowers (which has happened to us) because it might not work out. And instead of having the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) centerpieces taken care of, you now have an unexpected emergency that is costing you time and energy that could be better spent enjoying the time with the friends and family that have gathered to share your day with you.

Each of these flowers has different care instructions, some like to be kept in their plastic sleeves, and some like to be left out of the refrigerator (it's because they're tropical) instead of the cooler temps. You can plan to DIY, but consider the time you could have instead of creating a project for your guests.

That's what a professional florist can do for you. We can take away the crash-course floral design tutorials, worrying about whether or not you should put the soft stems with the hard stems and other things that guests shouldn't have to think about. For those that are capable, knowledgable, and want to spend the time and energy doing their own florals, we have packages for that too.

A Rocky Mountain Wildflower Wedding at the Silverthorne Pavilion //

This bridal bouquet was made especially for Jen, who was married to her best friend near the Blue River in the shadow of the Gore Range in Silverthorne, Colorado. The outside ceremony was held on a grassy lawn near the Silverthorne Pavilion.

One popular item this summer is our custom sign. We talk to each couple to find out what places are important in their lives. Towns the couple has lived in, where families are from, and favorite ski areas favorite choices.

And of course, we have our furry family members. Who are so cute and cuddly at first, but then turn into much more than you ever imagined. A true partner in life, and an important presence for some couples. Custom floral decor available to match your pooch with your peonies.

In the photo above, Dina gets set to climb the ladder and start decorating our rental arch at the Silverthorne Pavillion in Silverthorne, Colorado. The clouds were coming and going all day, and the rain held off just long enough for a few post-ceremony photographs and then let loose for about an hour straight.

Rocky Mountain Wedding Flowers // Wildflower Centerpieces at the High Country Lodge in Breckenridge, CO

The bridal bouquet was made of Peonies, Zinnias, Roses, Lamb's ear, Delphinium and Snapdragons.

This destination wedding bride from New York is a tech savvy girl, posting pics on Instagram through her Twitter account and works in the media industry. She found us online of course, and we helped her with her Breckenridge wedding planning needs. She found a rental property in the Peak 7 neighborhood that sits at almost 10,000 feet, the High Country Lodge in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Fresh from our cutting garden, these Colorado Columbine were used in these table centerpieces. Colored vintage vases and rustic jar vases were spread out among the moss and greens that were carefully laid down the center. These vases are available for as part of our destination wedding rental package.

Just down the slope from the back deck at the High Country Lodge is a small group of Aspen trees that provided shade for this arch to hide out until it was ready to be used. Intense sun can wilt flowers very quickly on a hot day. Same thing for your bouquet. Plan ahead and think about how long your bouquet will be out of water when you take photos.

Ask your florist how your flowers will handle an extended session in the mountain elements. We have suggested two bouquets for certain brides who wanted pristine flowers in her bouquet for both the ceremony and the photo session, which was many hours prior.

Mt. Baldy in the distance is the predominant peak when you look east from the slopes near the ski area. This day was a little bit cloudy, but I don't think it rained at all. In fact, the wind was so still, that on other days, the vases and delicate decor would have blown away.

Flower Shop Plans Weddings Around Bike Race //

A local 9News.com reporter, Matt Renoux, did a search online for "Breckenridge Wedding Planning" and he called us to discuss how the USA Procycling Race was affecting the wedding scene in Breckenridge and Summit County. We told him about how one of our brides had to move her event from Saturday to the Friday before, as she wanted to use Sapphire Point as her ceremony location, but the road will be closed that day for the race.

We need to be in Copper Mountain and Keystone for our events that day, but are well aware of the roads that will be closed, the times they are expected to be closed, and have the online tools and apps that the race promotes to follow the race in real-time and avoid the pack.

The tall and ribbon-tied tulle with flowers complemented the ballet theme and magnified the height of the building and as well created a cozy feeling! Having floating candles on the tables with the short vases of flowers and tall vases of floral balls, crystals and candles presented a contrast of simplicity with elegance as well as harmony and intrigue.

We truly appreciate how you created the look that Meredith wanted and still stayed within the budget. As evening approached and night came, Timber Ridge became even more beautiful and intimate because of your talent.

Many of the guests came up to me to tell me how much they admired the setting including the photographer's assistant! Erin mentioned that this was one of the best decor she has seen! Another guest who has been to a lot of weddings (10 this year!) said the same thing. I gave all the credit to you!

Pink, pink and more pink. I kept seeing these soft colors in my gallery and decided to bring them all together for a quick summary of our work for clients that chose pink in their color palette for their Rocky Mountain wedding n the past few weeks. Enjoy!

Brides and grooms work together to chose an acceptable theme and mood, and can then use the colors to bring out the best of a venue, or series of experiences. It obviously made the bride's mother happy. Reading this email, Dina showed tears of joy knowing her job had touched someone's heart not for a few hours, but a lifetime.

World-class cyclists compete in a multi-day stage race throughout the state of Colorado. It is expected to be the largest spectator event in the history of the state. Seven of 10 of the top Tour de France riders can be seen racing in the high country of the Colorado Rocky Mountains among 128 fierce competitors.

WHEN / WHERE: Saturday, August 27, 2011. Breckenridge, Colorado.

WEDDING TRAVEL: Travelers to weddings should leave plenty early to arrive at their destination early. Various road closures will be in effect. Please be where you need to be by 2PM, as travel will not be recommended after that time. It could be until 4:30PM until you are suggested to travel.

When is the race? What time?

The race starts in Steamboat Springs on Saturday, August 27, 2011. The teams will depart Steamboat at 11:15 a.m. and arrive in Breckenridge between 3:15 and 4:30pm. But you will want to arrive earlier to avoid road closures and spend time having a bite to eat, visit the vendors and find a great place to catch the action!

Where is the best place to see the race? and finish?

The race will be heading south on Highway 9, turning right at the roundabout onto Park Avenue, following Park all the way around Town before making an exciting left turn to head north on Main Street. The race will continue through town on Main, finishing at the intersection of Main and Wellington.

Is there a fee to view the race?

The race is free to watch in Breckenridge.

Are dogs allowed?

For the safety of our beloved four legged friends, they will not be allowed at the race finish along Main Street in Breckenridge. These cyclists can travel at speeds of 30-35 mph and can cause serious harm to your pet. We want you to enjoy the race with your full and undivided attention.

Will there be anything to do before or after the race?

An Expo and live music will be at the finish site beginning at 11:00 a.m., a ciitzens street sprint race with onsite registration and a cruiser parade will also take place in the early afternoon. A bicycle stunt performance show will be taking place as well. All of this and the world’s top cyclists in a beautiful setting - what more could you ask for?

What teams/racers will be at the race?

Many of the top riders and teams from The Tour de France are coming to Breckenridge, including 2011 Tour de France Winner, Cadel Evans. There will be over 120 top riders from teams such as Team Radio Shack (USA), Columbia-HTC, Team Garmin-Cervelo (USA), Liquigas-Cannondale (Italy), Leopard Trek, United Health Care Pro Cycling, and Skil-Shimano.

Where can we park during the race?
Parking will be available at various lots throughout town and will be well signed the day of the race. Various road closures will be in effect as the race approaches Breckenridge so be prepared for a short walk or to catch a close in shuttle bus. Spectators are encouraged to ride their bikes to the race and utilize the recreation paths. The Summit Stage is also a great alternative to driving and parking.

Which roads will be closed during the race?

Colorado State Patrol will implement a rolling closure of Highway 9 from Steamboat Springs to Breckenridge as the cyclists progress southward. In Summit County, Highway 9 in Silverthorne, Highway 6 in Dillon, Swan Mountain Road and Highway 9 between Farmer’s Korner and Breckenridge will be subject to rolling closures beginning at approximately 2:00 and ending around 4:00. In Breckenridge, Main Street will be closed all day until the race finishes.

To play it safe on race day, Be where you want to be by 2:00 and don’t plan to drive from town to town again until after 4:00.

Due to the nature of the sporting event, the road closures are highly variable.

[HOW TO] Deliver Flowers To the Top of Keystone's North Peak For Weddings at Timber Ridge and the Alpenglow Stube in Keystone, CO //

If you're one of the lucky individuals that get the opportunity to get married in Summit County, Keystone's North Peak offers some great mountaintop vistas for guests at your wedding. However, behind the scenes action shows the mountain roads and gondolas that are used to transport the florals and event decor that each bride has carefully selected and chosen. The gondola above is located in the River Run Village, and for smaller jobs and winter events we board the gondola not once, but twice to reach the North Peak wedding venues at Keystone Resort.

Most venues are reachable by 2WD cars in the summer, however the water bars and rocks that show up on the road suggests a 4WD and a bit of clearance, just to be safe. Here's my ride, a Toyota Tacoma, on one of the switchbacks up the road at Keystone. We also use the shop van, pictured below, and one of our workers improvised a way to transport the 30 or so flowery pomanders that were created to hang from Manzanita branches in rock-filled vases. Creativity not only in florals, but also in transport. We are flower transportation specialists, after all.

The backroads of the ski area is like walking next to a sleeping giant. Days remembered of packed lift lines give way to lined up chairs, waiting to be reattached to transport people to the tops of snow-covered hills.

The photo below is one taken from the drive as we gain elevation on the road that climbs to Timber Ridge. There are spots where only one car at a time is possible. You can see mining ruins scattered on the alpine hills surrounding the area.

Bridal Bouquet // Gerbera Daisies, Fuji Mums, and Bachelor Buttons

I've been taking lots of photos using my new iPhone, and have always wanted to know how to add a variety of effects to the sometimes sub-par (in my opinion anyway) photos that I've taken. I have been an amateur photographer for many years, but have since taken hundreds, if not thousands of images of bouquets, centerpieces and wedding decor that we provide for our clients. Using the iphene and all the apps make it a breeze to take excellent photos, one of which is the one below!

We do this because the majority of our clients are researching and finding their resources online, and we have made it regular practice to post our pics as we set up, and then share the professional photos as we get them.

This bridal bouquet has multi-colored Gerbera Daisies, green Hypericum Berry, purple and white Bachelor Buttons and was wrapped in green ribbon. The wedding was at Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge, Colorado.

We've taken it a step further and have created a new platform for mountain weddings near Breckenridge and Summit County called Summit Mountain Weddings. It is our new wedding blog that is in soft-launch right now, so if you've taken the time to read this blog, then you deserve a sneak peek while we test content and bring vendors on board. Wedding Flowers for the Alpenglow Stube at Keystone Resort's North Peak //

This bridal bouquet was made for a bride that was getting married at Keystone Resort's North Peak. We were already booked when she called, but found out that we were going to be right next door at Timber Ridge, and decided that we could help decorate this wedding too! It doesn't always work out this way, but this weekend it did. We book events on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Staffers of the Alpenglow Stube tried to clean up the snow pile for the bride and groom. A valiant effort indeed, but they did not "clean" the entire patch of snow. It was hard work!

Centerpieces were wrapped in Birch bark and filled with Dahlias, Roses, Spray Roses and Snapdragons.

This magnificent arch is available for rent, and we dress it up nicely! The staffers at Keystone were concerned about it being blown over, so I piled a bunch of rocks at the base. I probably could have swung from it!

The bigger events usually pick the Timber Ridge side, while the Alpenglow Stube is much better suited for smaller gatherings. We even delivered another wedding there this past weekend, and the ceremony was held on the Mozart Deck, at the top of the first gondola. These venues are two gondolas away on North Peak, in the Outback.

Red, Orange and White Wedding Flowers for a Mountain Wedding at Timber Ridge in Keystone, Colorado //

The drive up to Keystone's wedding ceremony and reception venue on North Peak, Timber Ridge, is just a bit off the beaten path. You either have to take two gondolas, or drive up a long, winding ski area dirt road to reach the mountaintop location. We usually like to drive up our flowers and centerpieces, otherwise we have to load and unload from car, to gondola #1, unload / reload to gondola #2, and then transport to the room.

There are actually two wedding venues at North Peak. The Alpenglow Stube, and the massive room they call Timber Ridge. Most of the time it's reserved for a unique fondue experience, but is available through the Keystone Resort wedding crew. Please let us know if you're considering this venue, as we've been up to this location numerous times over the years.

Guests found their names painted on to rocks, and then to the appropriate table using pictures attached to pieces of cut Aspen trees. We love how the couples use natural elements like wood and rock in all the mountain weddings we work with!

If you look at the slope on the top right, you can see patches of snow still clinging to the shady parts of the slope. Here a bridesmaid puts together the ceremony table, while Dina attaches red Gladioli to the chairs for the aisle decor.

There are many ways to honor deceased relatives and family members. This couple chose to represent their grandparents with a single Calla Lily for each. It's very touching to see the pictures and know how much these people meant to the bride and groom.

The musician in the background sets up a sun shade, as Dina wears a ball cap to block the intense sun. We wait as until the last-minute to put out flowers in the sun, as they could fade or wilt rather quickly. We also suggest two bouquets, one for photos, and one for the ceremony if it's in the budget, because sometimes the sun and elements can wreck a bouquet long before the ceremony. So, ask yourself, is it important to you to have a pristine bouquet?

Centerpieces were alternating tall and short arrangements, the taller ones being branches and Orchids, with hanging votives with battery-powered LED lights. No open flames means a safe choice. These vases were rental items from our shop. Why buy when you can rent?

The submerged flower and floating candle is a very popular centerpiece the last few years. And you don't have to use Orchids. We've recently completed a wedding that used Snapdragons.

We always love seeing the cakes that longtime Keystone cake maker, Ned Archibald, creates for our mutual clients. We especially love when he brings us samples to try out! Thanks Ned!!

Q&A w/ Austin Family Farms - Organic or Natural?

We were talking with some of our local CSA members and someone had some questions. We asked the farm and this is what they said. We hope this answers your questions.

Q. Is the corn really grown on your farm? Isn't it too early? Are you organic or not?

A. "Glenn and Tony (Tim's parents) have always grown using "natural" methods. They were certified "Colorado Organic" before the federal certification program began. Once the national organic program began (which, by the way, was designed by big growers with their own interests in mind), Tony and Glenn had to decide whether to participate. The certification process was laborious and expensive, especially for growers who handle multiple varieties. The process and costs multiply for each crop variety you produce. They decided at that point in time to continue growing using the standards they had already been using and forgo the new process to become certified. They wanted to focus on sustainable farming and the relationships they had with their customers. Because of this decision, the new regulations required they switch from calling themselves "organic" to using the term "natural".

As far as our growing standards are concerned, they are actually more gentle and environmentally sound than organic standards. Our soil and pest management programs do not use any items not on the approved list for organics and there are many approved items we will not use. Glenn has an agriculture degree and many years of hands-on experience. He keeps up with the research and technology available and is often sought out as an instructor or mentor for less-experienced farmers.

Over the years, Glenn has developed a network of farmers who have mutual growing philosophies. They rely on each other for advice and learn from each other. He knows specifically each of these grower's soil and pest management programs. They speak a language that sounds like greek to most of the rest of us. We co-op with these growers to provide a better assortment of produce and spread the risk in case of crop failure due to freezes and hail. As you know, our area of Colorado has very diverse climates in a short distance. We are nestled up against the mountains but within a short drive we have much drier, hotter climates. This allows us to have a diverse availability of produce. Most of our corn comes from one of our other growers. His corn is ready before our local corn and is a sweeter variety than grows here. Our customer base includes restaurants, natural food stores, CSA members, farmer's markets, schools, hospitals and individuals who have a passion for fresh, healthy produce. We strive to build a level of trust with our customers and they in turn have requested that we get them access to a wider variety of produce options.

This may have been way more information than you ever wanted but I hope it clarifies for you our growing philosophies. Let me know if you have any other questions. It is truelly his life-long passion and he loves sharing it with others.

Ashley and Jeremiah were married on Peak 9 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort's Ten Mile Station. The reception was at One Ski Hill Place's T-Bar, which is at the base of Peak 8, with the Fun Park right out the door. What a great way to celebrate your wedding in the mountains!

Asian-inspired Orchid Bridal Bouquet //

This purple, green, and yellow bridal bouquet was created using Asian inspiration as the guide for the look and feel for this Rocky Mountain wedding. We wrapped the handle in a thick grass and included a coin meant to bring good luck and prosperity.

We used two different kinds of Orchids, Mokara and Cymbidium and both are spectacular to use in bouquets. Multiple flowers per stem, they have such texture and personality! Are you a fan of Orchids? Which ones?
