Special Event Flowers for One Ski Hill Place, Breckenridge, Colorado

Creative Flowers Inc. has been a longtime provider of flowers and decor for Vail Resorts properties, having decorated the base of Peak 8 for many years. Now, times are a changin' and so are the facilities around Peak 8's base.

Now, you have the gondola unload, One Ski Hill Place, and a couple of other lodging options that step it up for Breckenridge. One Ski Hill Place wanted to celebrate with a promotional weekend, and asked us to provide some great flowers for decor.

Two different big arrangements were placed on either side of the entrance to the "Living Room" as I hear it is being called, where the top of the stairs lead up to slopeside views and decks.

Dahlias, Fiddle Ferns, Hanging Amaranthus, Mokara Orchids, Crespedia, Thistle, Calla Lilies, and even Kale were used in this creation using yellows, reds, oranges and green.

Eremurus, Allium, Roses and Grasses were used in this wide cylinder vase.

I spy a pin cushion protea in there too. What will we make for you and your party?.

Mountain Wedding at Copper Mountain, Colorado

bridal bouquet

bridesmaid bouquet
Remnants of snow still linger in early June on the slopes of Copper Mountain.

The couple, who are mountain people who live in Alaska, gathered their family in the mountains of Colorado, in the "lower 48" as the folks up north like to call the rest of the U.S.

Aisle decor: a single gerbera daisy, tied with black ribbon.

Trig and crew from Trystan Photography were on location, checking the light, and gathering folks for pre-ceremony group pics.
The pink ribbons on the name cards, which were fabric-covered picture frames, led guests to their table.

This June wedding in Breckenridge, was blessed with picture perfect clouds and weather. A short drive up dirt roads on the Breckenridge Ski Resort, lead you past the Breckenridge Stables summer time operations, up to Ten Mile Station.
This young lady holds a unique pomander, exclusive to her, making her feel special on this day.

The view from the deck at Ten Mile Station has Mt. Baldy and Boreas in the background.

cermony arrangement

Tables were named after the various ski areas in Colorado.

Pure white and clean, vases are filled with fragrant stock.

The dinner tables are set with a sky blue runner, coordinating with the color scheme.

Other tables had white hydrangea in them.

Tracy and the crew are seasoned pros and are ready to help make your party what you envision.

These looked very yummy, and something different. The cake wasn't ready when we were there, so I missed pics of the cake.

The Falcon chair, which serves Peak 10, is just south of Ten Mile Station and Hoosier pass lies in the low point in the horizon. The Continental Divide stretches out creating one of the best destination wedding views you'll find in Breckenridge.

Intense Sun and thoughts about the snow in June in Breckenridge, Colorado, 2010, Photos courtesy of Robin Johnson

Local Breckenridge Wedding Photographer, Robin Johnson, took these pics, just hours apart yesterday. At 9 AM, it was full on winter, and by noon the clouds broke, the sun came out and everything melted pretty quickly. I just wanted to share these pics, as it shows how drastic the weather can be in the mountains of Colorado.

The increase in elevation makes for an intense sun that reminds you that you are in fact closer to the sun, which can be bad for delicate flowers. We considered this as a recent wedding party took their flowers hours before the ceremony for photo shoots out in the elements.

Now, some flowers are hardier than others and this will be no problem at all. However, the sun can wilt flowers very fast when left with no shelter from the direct rays of the sun. Therefore, we propose two things here:

1) An Extra set of Boutonierres or Corsages for those taking part in the photos long before the ceremony.

This way, if fragile delphinium or other flowers lose their luster in the sun, you'll have a fresh one ready for the ceremony.

2) Plan ahead. Hope for party cloudy skies (which make for great pics), a gentle breeze, and good vibes.

Strive for what you want, but be realistic and ready to go to PLAN B the moment the downpour starts. You don't want your friends and family to stand out in the rain, because you HAVE to get married OUTSIDE. Wait it out, extend cocktail hour a few extra minutes, and hang in there if that's what you want.

Otherwise, be flexible, enjoy the moment and go with the flow. Because it JUST MIGHT SNOW at your wedding in Breckenridge in June. Thanks Robin, for the pics.

A Breckenridge Wedding at the Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resorts property, June 2010, Colorado

A local Breckenridge family celebrated with an intimate outside wedding ceremony at the Mountain Thunder Lodge. This bridal bouquet has Pink Peonies, Yellow Calla Lilies, Red Roses, Yellow Ranunculus, and Yellow Spray Roses as well. The handle was tied off in a sheer white ribbon.

[ mountain thunder lodge ]

Bridesmaid bouquets were all Yellow, with Roses, Ranunculus, and Freesia.

Cermony decor were simple, mixed flowers tied to a few chairs closest to the front.

The boys are ready to go and are hanging out in the lobby area, next to a fireplace and comfy couches if a place to sit is desired. The outdoor patio for the ceremony and main conference / meeting room are all centrally located near the check in / front desk staging area.

Small, Pink Posies sit in water, waiting for Dear ol' Mom to show up and experience a mountain wedding.
A very sunny outdoor patio holds the Chuppah that Dear ol' Dad spent some time and energy creating just for this moment in time. The poles were draped in fabric, but with the wind, we had to make a last minute adjustment and tie the flaps down a bit to quiet the material. Strong winds have definitely been a factor for outside ceremonies in Breckenridge.
Clean white and black linens made for a crisp contrast against the vibrant color of the table arrangments.

The lobby area. The fireplace is just to the right in this pic, and the dinner taking place in the room to the left.

Katy, of Sugar, a local Breckenridge Cake Maker, is a favorite for choosing a Summit County wedding. She can do yummy cup cakes for you too! She's who I called when I needed a sweet treat for Dina's birthday. Kay is a longtime local and if you recognize her from somewhere, it's because she used to work at Clint's for a long time.

The Groom's Cake can be whatever you think he would enjoy. Mine was a chocolate mountain, with clear blue gel river and all, with various outdoor gear. What kind of activities, hobbies or interests can be incorporated into a cake?

The tables are set, pictures are being taken, and the DJ is ready to go! Contact local boy wonder, DC, and please be sure you ask him to spin you some hip hop because that's what he does best. A few months back, he even opened for Lyrics Born, who is vocally gifted to say the least.

New Breckenridge Wedding Venue // Sevens, at the base of Peak 8 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado

Dina "rippin' it up" on Peak 7 in Breckenridge!

[ Sevens ]

At the top of the stairs in the pic below, you'll see a hole in a square. That's the cutout above, that seems to be a bit oversized, but Dina is small after all, but you too could take your pic here. Or you could go and do the real thing. Only next winter. Actually I take that back. I believe it is the last weekend for skiing at the Basin. So, there is still a possibility for a skiing themed spring wedding to be taking place in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is just north of One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge, Colorado. Both venues offer slopeside views, and lodging for friends and family.

At the top of the stairs you come to a glorious view of Peak 8.
Outdoor heat lamps and a covered patio make for a east facing outdoor wedding ceremony location option for renewing vows slopeside, elopements in Breckenridge, or other group gatherings.

Mt. Baldy the dominant peak in the background, as the rest of the Continental Divide stretches out.

The outdoor patio is just to the right in this pic.

Booths separate a bar area, which looking out the window you see the deck and loading area for the Independence Chair that serves lower Peak 7. Take this chair and skip the lines at Peak 8 in the winter. Head directly to the T-bar for access to 6 chair and even the Imperial chair, North America's highest chair lift.

Looks like plenty of cozy spots to relax and enjoy the mountains at Sevens in Breckenridge.
