Karly + Christian // Breckenridge, Colorado

Karly + Christian // 01.17.09

Ceremony location: Father Dyer Methodist Church

Reception: Beaver Run Resort

A local Breckenridge girl met a guy from Argentina, and this unique mountain wedding involved a unique tradition from Argentina when it came to the wedding cake. This cake was made with ribbons sticking out of the sides. Each of the girls take one of the ribbons and pull. Each ribbon has some trinket tied at the end. One of them has a ring, and the one who pulls it is supposed to be the next to get married (sort of like catching the bouquet).

And it gets a little crazy as the night goes on... According to a traditions forum, "Around the end of the party there's a "carnaval carioca" with Brazilian music and a lot of plastic hats, music, etc. I've no idea how this tradition started, but it's there."
